The SUP Twelve race, a Stand Up Paddle board endurance event, has quickly become a highlight in the paddling community. Now in its third year, the event is renowned for its friendly, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging paddlers of all levels to push their limits and achieve their best. This year's race was no exception, and it saw an impressive performance from Emily King of Great Britain/Paddle Cymru, who secured second place in this grueling 12-hour challenge.

SUP Twelve is a unique endurance event that tests the stamina and determination of its participants. The race runs for 12 hours, from 7 am to 7 pm, with a straightforward objective: who can paddle the most laps in 12 hours?

The event prides itself on its inclusivity, allowing any seaworthy board to compete, making it a true test of individual endurance and skill. The race takes place on coastal waters, with a course approximately 3.5 km long. Each lap is professionally timed and recorded, ensuring a fair and competitive environment for all paddlers.

Emily King's second place finish is a testament to her dedication and hard work. Competing against a field of determined paddlers. Her achievement is even more impressive considering the challenging conditions and the sheer physical and mental stamina required to compete for 12 continuous hours. Emily's results: Time: 12:25:50.4 Distance: 73.5km

The SUP Twelve race is designed to be both challenging and inclusive. With no categories for board types, the focus is purely on the paddlers ability to endure and perform. The coastal course offers a mix of conditions that test the paddlers' skills and adaptability. The race demands a strategic approach, balancing speed and endurance to maximize the number of laps completed within the 12 hour timeframe.

Emily King's success at the SUP Twelve race is a shining example of what can be achieved with determination and perseverance. Her second place finish not only highlights her personal achievement but also embodies the spirit of the SUP Twelve event a celebration of endurance, inclusivity, and the joy of paddling. As the event continues to grow in popularity, we look forward to seeing more inspiring performances and stories from paddlers like Emily, who push the boundaries and inspire others to do the same.

Mae caiacio môr yn ffordd wych o fwynhau cyfarfyddiadau â bywyd gwyllt, boed yn balod ar Sgomer, morloi oddi ar Ben y Gogarth neu ddolffiniaid ym Mae Aberteifi. Fodd bynnag, mae un creadur arall rydw i bob amser wedi bod eisiau ei weld, ac mae'n annhebygol y bydd yn digwydd ar arfordir Cymru, a dyna forfil. Mae gweld y rhain o gaiac môr yn gofyn am ychydig o gynllunio, o bosibl rhywfaint o deithio dramor a dos da o lwc. Dyna sut y cefais fy hun yn Baja, Mecsico’r llynedd, gyda bag o faw ar fy nec, pothelli ar fy nwylo a rhywfaint o'r bywyd gwyllt gorau rydw i erioed wedi'i weld. O, a gyda Pete. Roeddwn i'n cario rhywfaint o'i faw.

Sea kayaking is a great way to enjoy encounters with wildlife, whether it’s puffins on Skomer, seals off the Orme or dolphins in Cardigan Bay. However, there’s one other creature that I’ve always wanted to see, and it’s unlikely it will happen on the Welsh coastline, and that’s a whale. To see these from a sea kayak requires a bit of planning, potentially some overseas travel and a good dose of luck. Which is how I wound up in Baja, Mexico last year, with a bag of poop on my deck, blisters on my hands and some of the best wildlife I’ve ever encountered. Oh, and with Pete. It was some of his poop I was carrying.
