Cadet Centre for Adventurous TrainingList Item 4
The Cadet Centre for Adventurous Training (CCAT) delivers Adventurous Training qualifications and skill-based experience courses for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) and Cadets aged 15+ from the Army Cadets. We offer a wide range of challenging, inspiring, and progressive courses, all safely managed, at levels ranging from Basic to Intermediate skills, up to Leader and Instructor qualifications. These courses follow the Army Cadets Adventurous Training (ACAT) and National Governing Body (NGB) accredited schemes.

CMC Adventure
A fantastic opportunity for you to become an independent paddler in your own boat. Our sessions are a mixture of journeys around the estuary, playing games, learning skills, and there is always the possibility of getting wet! We will tailor a session that suits your aims and the needs of your group members.
Our friendly instructors will help you get started if you have never kayaked before! We have a variety of boats to choose from, and our experienced instructors will choose the best type of kayak for you and the conditions. We have both sit-on-top kayaks and closed cockpit kayaks, as well as duo sit-on-tops, which include paddlers who may need some extra support through paddling in a team.

Escape and unwind at Elan Valley in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains of mid Wales. A haven for wildlife and nature, its 72 square miles of stunning scenery offers year-round opportunities for exploration and outdoor activities.

Dwr Cymru - Llandegfedd Activity Centre
Our purpose-built Activity Centre specialises in tuition and equipment hire. You may also bring your own kit and pay to launch your craft. Our season runs from March to the end of October to protect our overwintering birds. We offer canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding and katakanuing, as well as sailing, windsurfing, pedal boarding, archery, axe throwing, laser clay shooting and orienteering. Conditions are perfect with clean water and no currents or tides. Here you will find changing rooms with hot showers and a place to refuel and recharge in our Visitor Centre café just along the path. See you on the water!

Dwr Cymru - Llyn Brenig
Llyn Brenig, near Denbigh in North Wales, is a hub for outdoor activities, wildlife and wellbeing located between the popular tourism centres of Snowdonia and Conwy. Things to do include watersports like paddleboarding, kayaking (hire or self-launch), recreational boats and open-water swimming in summer plus bike hire, sauna and cold water dipping all year round.

Dwr Cymru - Llys Y Fran Activity Centre
Llys-y-frân is set in a beautiful location, in the foothills of the Preseli Mountains. Free to enter and open all year round, there’s plenty to do for all ages and abilities. A great place to spend the day exploring on foot or on two wheels. The 350 acres (142ha) of woodland, grassland and lake are perfect for walking, cycling and fishing – and a whole range of activities on land and water. Whatever adventure you choose, enjoy taking deep breaths of fresh Pembrokeshire air, where social distancing comes naturally.

Our base is right on the harbour’s edge, where we can explore the NE coast. Perfectly located whether you seek some sheltered water paddling or the more adrenalin pumping tidal races. It’s all on our doorstep.

The Wye Valley is Canoe and Kayak Country! Forest Adventure paddle the most scenic stretches of the river, from placid water to turbulent rapids. Your instructor will brief you on kayak/canoe control, and safety procedures. Forest Adventure provides half or full-day guided trips. Barrells and lunches can be provided upon request. You will be taught flat water skills and moving water techniques, all combined with a lot of fun and games! Maybe train towards your progressive courses - a national award system accredited by the British Canoe Union.

Plas y Brenin
Here at Plas y Brenin we offer a wide range of paddle-sport courses to suit all abilities and ages round. Situated at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), there is a wide range of waterways and destinations either on-site in the form of the Afon Llugwy and Llynnau Mymbyr (local river and lake) as well as many other rivers, lakes and coastal trips all within an hours journey.
This includes coaching, guiding and training and assessing at all levels, either as a day package or an all-inclusive offering.
