Join us from 24th May to 8th June as we team up with Paddle UK to clean up our beautiful waterways. Paddle Cymru is proud to support this amazing initiative, so grab your paddle, gather your crew, and get involved!

Let’s Get Serious About Cleaning Up Our Waters

Our rivers, lakes, and coastlines are under threat from plastic pollution, discarded waste, and the everyday impact of human activity. But together, we can make a difference. The Big Paddle Cleanup is your chance to take action and be part of a nationwide movement to protect the places we paddle. In 2024, 3,699 amazing volunteers collected 1,888 sacks of plastic waste and other junk from our precious waterways.

Here’s how you can get involved:

✅ Join a Cleanup
Find a local event and lend a hand. Every piece of litter removed is a step toward healthier waterways.

✅ Organise Your Own
Can’t find a cleanup near you? Start one! Whether it’s a solo paddle or a group effort, your initiative matters.

✅ Raise Awareness
Use your voice. Share your cleanup stories, photos, and wins on social media. Tag your posts and help spread the word.

✅ Report Your Efforts
Log your cleanup on the https://paddleuk.org.uk/paddle-cleanups-map-and-upload/. Your data helps track impact and inspire others to join.

Get Rewarded for Your Efforts

To thank you for your commitment, Decathlon is offering a £5 voucher to everyone who logs their cleanup. It’s a small token of appreciation for your big impact.

To claim your reward:

  1. Complete your cleanup and upload your report https://paddleuk.org.uk/paddle-cleanups-map-and-upload/.
  2. Make sure you have a free Decathlon membership account. https://account.decathlon.com/en-GB.
  3. Your voucher will be redeemable via the Decathlon app at the end of the campaign.

And that’s not all, Decathlon will also be supporting a flagship cleanup event, to be announced soon.

This is more than a campaign. It’s a call to action. Let’s protect the places we love to paddle for ourselves, for wildlife, and for future generations.

Join the Big Paddle Cleanup today. Because clean water is everyone’s responsibility.

Mae caiacio môr yn ffordd wych o fwynhau cyfarfyddiadau â bywyd gwyllt, boed yn balod ar Sgomer, morloi oddi ar Ben y Gogarth neu ddolffiniaid ym Mae Aberteifi. Fodd bynnag, mae un creadur arall rydw i bob amser wedi bod eisiau ei weld, ac mae'n annhebygol y bydd yn digwydd ar arfordir Cymru, a dyna forfil. Mae gweld y rhain o gaiac môr yn gofyn am ychydig o gynllunio, o bosibl rhywfaint o deithio dramor a dos da o lwc. Dyna sut y cefais fy hun yn Baja, Mecsico’r llynedd, gyda bag o faw ar fy nec, pothelli ar fy nwylo a rhywfaint o'r bywyd gwyllt gorau rydw i erioed wedi'i weld. O, a gyda Pete. Roeddwn i'n cario rhywfaint o'i faw.

Sea kayaking is a great way to enjoy encounters with wildlife, whether it’s puffins on Skomer, seals off the Orme or dolphins in Cardigan Bay. However, there’s one other creature that I’ve always wanted to see, and it’s unlikely it will happen on the Welsh coastline, and that’s a whale. To see these from a sea kayak requires a bit of planning, potentially some overseas travel and a good dose of luck. Which is how I wound up in Baja, Mexico last year, with a bag of poop on my deck, blisters on my hands and some of the best wildlife I’ve ever encountered. Oh, and with Pete. It was some of his poop I was carrying.
