PARTICIPATION STATEMENT
Paddling, whether kayaking, canoeing, or paddleboarding, offers an exciting, engaging, and rewarding way to explore Wales’ beautiful blue spaces. It provides opportunities to develop new skills, build confidence, enjoy time on the water independently or as part of a group, and to learn about, appreciate, and explore the natural environment we are privileged to paddle in.
However, paddlesport is an adventurous, water‑based activity that carries inherent risks. While these risks cannot be fully removed, they can be managed through understanding environmental conditions, receiving appropriate guidance or supervision, completing relevant training, and using suitable, well‑maintained safety equipment.
By taking part in paddling activities, participants acknowledge these risks and accept the need to behave responsibly, make informed decisions, and take appropriate actions on and around the water. We also encourage all paddlers to act as responsible stewards of the environment, protecting wildlife, minimising impact, and helping to preserve the places we paddle for future generations.'
