Ceufad Goes Greener: Now Printed on Carbon Balanced Paper

We’re thrilled to announce that the latest edition of Ceufad, Paddle Cymru’s membership magazine, has been printed on Carbon Balanced Paper for the very first time.

This marks a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

What is Carbon Balanced Paper?

Carbon Balanced Paper is an initiative that allows organisations to offset the carbon emissions associated with the production and printing of paper. This is achieved through a partnership with the World Land Trust, an international conservation charity that protects and restores threatened forests around the globe. By choosing Carbon Balanced Paper, we’re helping to prevent deforestation, protect biodiversity, and reduce the amount of CO₂ released into the atmosphere.

Sustainable from Cover to Cover

The magazine is printed by https://wojprint.co.uk/ based in Ynys Môn (Anglesey), using FSC-certified paper and vegetable-based inks. This ensures that the paper comes from responsibly managed forests and that the printing process is as environmentally friendly as possible.

We’ve also made the packaging plastic-free by switching to paper-based envelopes, making the entire package fully recyclable. And for those who prefer a digital experience, we continue to offer a digital-only subscription option.

Why It Matters

Forests are vital to the health of our planet. They absorb carbon dioxide, produce oxygen, and provide habitats for countless species. Since 1990, over 420 million hectares of forest have been lost worldwide. By supporting the Carbon Balanced Paper scheme and making sustainable choices in our production and packaging, Paddle Cymru is playing a small but meaningful role in reversing this trend, ensuring that our printed communications align with our values as a community rooted in nature and the outdoors.

We’re proud to be making this change and hope it inspires others in the paddlesports and wider outdoor community to explore more sustainable choices.

The lack of rain places a great strain on the environment and our sport. The dry spell is already impacting our waterways, where we are seeing low river levels that could affect fish and wildlife. Therefore, it is important to follow guidelines when you are either considering paddling or when you are on the water.
