Deefest 2026 had everything you could ask for: sunshine, happy paddlers and a safari theme that paddlers really got behind. From inflatable animals to jungle-inspired outfits, the theme brought an extra layer of fun and set the tone for a festival that didn’t take itself too seriously, both on and off the water.

Held on the afon Dyfrydwy/river Dee in Llangollen, this year’s festival was the biggest yet. Paddlers of all ages and abilities took to the water across a packed weekend, with a buzzing atmosphere from the moment the first boats launched to the final cheers on Sunday afternoon. The Dee delivered classic conditions, and the sunshine stuck around to make the most of it.

Beginners found their feet with fun ducky events and river shuttles running all weekend, giving plenty of people the chance to build confidence, try something new and enjoy the river in a supportive setting. Some people even hit their first ever whitewater rolls! At the same time, seasoned paddlers had a great time, pushing the limits of a low water Mile End Mill in the rodeo.

New this year was the duo category, a first for Deefest and an instant hit that brought a whole new energy to the event.

Also, did we just set a world record for the largest ever whitewater flotilla of inflatable crocodiles?

Off the water, the vibe was just as strong. The sun stayed out, the crowd stayed loud, and the safari theme added a special something to the legendary Deefest party.
